THESSALONIKI
The Princess of the North is the second largest metropolis in Greece. Formerly called co-capital, referring to Constantinople, witness to a series of historic events, Thessaloniki is embedded in the spirit of struggle, for its people were among the ones who suffered the most with invasions and wars. Vestiges of this past are found at every corner, from the White Tower, the city’s main postcard, painted that color to erase all the bloodshed it saw, to the monument to Alexander the Great,
a remembrance of Greece’s glorious days. A cultural pot and Greek synonym for gastronomy, the capital of Macedonia is one of those places to visit many times, as a start point for holiday trips or as a fun destination by itself.
