The 3-fingered peninsula on the central Macedonian shore is a notorious paradise of nature and history. Crystal clear sandy beaches and proximity to continental Europe attract legions of tourists in the summer, while geographic position, very close to the East, make it a strategic point for political establishments. Not by chance, right there, at the 3rd digit, high on Mount Athos, sits the biggest Byzantine complex in the country, 20 monasteries of the Orthodox Church, a true Christian empire guarding the gates of modern Greece. Of the other 2 land projections, Sithonia, the middle one,
is the most beautiful and worth visiting to all, since the sacred Oros
is forbidden to women. Kassandra, the 1st and closest to the East coast,
is mostly modern and urbanized. A must-visit in the warmer months,
Halkidiki has plenty to offer for rich and delightful holidays in the Greek territory.
