KYNURIA

Travel North through the coastal region of Arcadia, called Kynuria. It goes from Kosmas, on the top of Parnonas Mountains, to Kiveri, near Argos and Nafplio, on the Argolic Gulf. It is highly mountainous and scenic. If you want to make stops, choose the beach town Tyros, or the city of Astros, in the mountains.

Coming from Monemvasia, take the road through Sikea, Molai and Geraki (about 1 hour, 60km). Geraki is a Byzantine city from the XIII Century that served as a communication point between Mystras and Monemvasia. It still has a traditional settlement with a castle on a hill.

Proceed to Parnonas Mountains and find the cute traditional village of Kosmas, then visit Elonas Monastery.

Snake down the mountain, reaching the shore at Leonidio. The road is one of the most picturesque in Peloponnese, and the landscape is absolutely breathtaking. Finally, follow the coast going North.
